On Friday, Moose and Maggie’s Mystery Guest presented by Jersey Mike’s brought a lot of luggage to the 1 p.m. hour on WFAN.

Today’s Mystery Guest immediately poked fun at the hosts for their initial silence, playing back to Moose’s immediate identification of John Harper on Thursday by saying, “you didn’t guess who I am yet? No voice activation?”

Not yet, and not at all, as Moose & Maggie couldn’t discern who it was, despite the guest saying he was “a New Englander but close to New York” and one who took a long time to remember all the MLB teams he played for up until retiring in 2001, quipping, “I was bad enough to play on a lot of teams, so they shipped me around a lot.” Finally, with the minute up, the Mystery Guest identified himself as…

Rico Brogna!

Yes, it was Connecticut’s own former Met, Brogna, who joined Moose and Maggie to kick off their final hour, and he was immediately ready to talk baseball.

“Baseball is back and that’s cool! Watching the game and seeing Stanton go lift-off in the first inning was awesome,” Brogna said. “I had all these comments I was making to my son in the first inning, and he was probably like, ‘dad, just let me watch the game!’”

Brogna never got to play in the MLB postseason despite his many stops, so he had mixed feeling about MLB’s plan to expand the playoffs that was announced last night.

“It’s kind of play it along as we go, and I think they just want more baseball, because that means more people watching games as they go. I do think the positive spin on that is that they expect health to progress as we go along, so more people can play and more cities will be involved,” Brogna said. “Hopefully with other sports mixing in we can get back to some normalcy. This is unique, but I think they may try this later on in a normal season, but they’ll have to shorten the regular season.”

You can hear Brogna’s entire segment by utilizing the Rewind function on the RADIO.COM app, and as always, you can check out more on-demand audio from Moose & Maggie, or tune in every day to the or Twitch.TV/WFAN livestream of the show!
