David Fizdale On Porzingis: I Want Him To Feel Special

New coach of the New York Knicks David Fizdale may be in Chicago for the draft combine, but he's made it clear that his priority hails from Latvia.

"I want him to feel something that when he comes back here it's going to be special for him," Fizdale said Thursday about Kristaps Porzingis. He continued to say that his biggest goal this offseason is to bond with Porzingis and just get inside his head.

"Oh yeah, that's going to happen," Fizdale said about going to visit Porzingis. "Multiple times maybe over the course of the summer."

Porzingis made news Wednesday when reports surfaced that the big man was rehabbing from ACL surgery at Real Madrid's facility in Seville, independent of Knicks staff.

Back in Chicago at the combine on Thursday, the Knicks interviewed, among others, Mikal Bridges from Villanova and Alabama's Collin Sexton.

While either of these two upstarts could certainly help the Knicks going forward, there's only one Porzingis, and it would be in the Knicks' best interest to make sure he knows that.

The organization has been non-committal thus far in entertaining contract extension talks with Porzingis, but perhaps some love and attention from his new coach will suffice in the meantime.
