Al Dukes is like the anti-Phil Rizzuto: he doesn’t get over the bridge early to beat the traffic, because he just tries not to cross the bridge at all if he doesn’t have to.

Well, one time Al did cross the bridge to play for Boomer’s softball team in a game against a team representing the Wounded Warrior Project on Long Island…and let’s just say that it wasn’t the most favorable trip Al ever made thanks to a rain delay and a location change.

“The best part was him out in Suffolk County, in a parking lot somewhere, pouring rain, field covered with water,” Eddie Scozzare remembered, to which Jerry Recco chimed in: “And then there was some poor guy who showed up to watch and Al was yelling at him!”

“It turned out to be a great game against the Wounded Warriors, but this is the kind of crap you deal with: ‘why did we go? I told you we’re not going to play,’” Boomer laughed, doing his impression of Al with those last words before a comparison to the current state of the MLB offices brought this comparison:

“Al is our David Price!” Eddie joked.

Hey, uh, Al? If you have that David Price money, can we borrow $20 for tolls for the next trip?
