Yankees' Jordan Montgomery To Undergo Tommy John Surgery

June 05, 2018 - 4:24 pm

The Yankees' already shaky rotation took a significant hit Tuesday as the team announced left-hander Jordan Montgomery will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery Thursday on his throwing elbow.

Montgomery has been out since May 2 with what was initially diagnosed as a flexor strain.

In six starts this season, the 25-year-old Montgomery was 2-0 with a 3.62 ERA, 23 strikeouts and 12 walks.

Montgomery earned a spot in the rotation in last season, going 9-7 with a 3.88 ERA as a rookie.

Domingo German has been filling in for Montgomery in the rotation, but he is 0-4 with a 5.44 ERA this season.
