Yankees Claim Bridwell Off Waivers, DFA Torreyes

The Yankees have claimed RHP Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels, the team announced Monday.

To make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Ronald Torreyes has been designated for assignment.

Bridwell has appeared in 28 games for the Angels from 2016-2018, earning a career 4.60 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 131.0 innings.

His best season came in 2017 when he went 10-3 with a 3.64 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 21 games (20 starts) for Los Angeles.

The 27-year-old pitched just 6.2 innings for LA in 2018, giving up 13 runs on 14 hits, including five home runs. 

Torreyes hit .280 with seven doubles and seven RBI in 100 at-bats for the Yankees in 2018, appearing in 41 games while playing second base, third base and shortstop.

The 26-year-old utility infielder has a .281/.310/.375 slash line in 229 career MLB games, 221 of which came with the Yankees.

Torreyes was known for being both a fan and clubhouse favorite.
