Manning led a game-winning touchdown drive to end a five-game losing skid. Odell Beckham hauled in two touchdowns and Sterling Shepard caught the game-winning TD. The Giants marched 69 yards on nine plays in 1:53 minutes on the winning drive.

“I was happy for our guys,” Shurmur said. “They’ve fought and they’ve worked hard and we finally got a chance to feel a victory.”

Manning completed 19 of 31 passes for 188 yards and threw three touchdowns.

“Everybody in the organization needed a win just to calm the fire,” Manning said. “I think that’s what it’s about. We worked extremely hard, the whole offense, the whole team. Everybody put in the time and the efforts. We just haven’t been rewarded with the rewards of wins – and haven’t had good enough execution to deserve those wins.

“Last night, we were able to do some good things. It wasn’t perfect. There’s still definitely room for improvement, but we were able to score more touchdowns in the red zone and move the ball. In a critical moment in the game, (we) made the plays that we needed to make to win it.”

The 2-7 Giants host the 3-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Tampa Bay heads into the game on a three-game losing streak.

“There’s confidence that you build as a team when you win games,” Shurmur said. “You can see a team get on a run. We’re really not going to worry about that. Tampa is a team that can move the ball and score points.”

Tampa Bay leads the NFL with 452.8 total yards per game.
