Sam Darnold Has A Strained Right Foot, Out Sunday Against Bills

First Game Missed This Season

November 08, 2018 - 1:45 pm

Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold has not missed a snap so far in the nine games this season. That streak will end on Sunday. Darnold has a strained right foot and will miss at least Sunday's game.

The Jets have a bye the following week, so there is a chance he returns in Week 12, but no timetable has been set yet. Darnold watched Wednesday's practice from the sideline in a walking boot. Veteran QB Josh McCown will start in his place.

Todd Bowles said Thursday that he isn't ruling out Darnold completely yet. There is a chance he is the backup QB on Sunday.

Reports say that it's a week-to-week injury, and he will be re-evaluated after the Week 11 bye. Darnold didn't miss a snap Sunday and the Jets didn't learn of the injury until Monday after tests were done.

The 39-year-old McCown started 13 games for the Jets last season, but hasn't played this season, and only took 19 snaps in preseason.
