Report: Eli Manning Could Return As Giants' Starting QB Next Season

November 28, 2018 - 6:34 pm

New York (WFAN) - Most people expect this to be the final year Eli Manning is behind center in a Giants uniform. Not so fast.

According to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano's sources, there is still a chance Eli Manning could return to the Giants in 2019, and even as their starting QB. He also reports that the decision on his future has 'absolutely not' been made and starting Manning next season could be the best option they have.

Manning is signing through 2019 for $11.5 million and is due a $5 million roster bonus in March. He has a salary cap number of $23.2 million. That number makes it tough for the Giants to keep him, especially being that he's 38 and has struggled the past couple of seasons.

Kyle Lauletta doesn't seem to be a viable option just yet. Maybe the Giants end up drafting Justin Herbert and he's the guy? As crazy as it sounds, Manning could be the guy once again next season. The Giants will need to put a strong offensive line in front of him or we may see another miserable year if the future Hall of Famer ends up sticking around.
