Rays Tweet Invoice To Yankees For New Stadium Speaker

June 25, 2018 - 3:30 pm

Clint Frazier stepped up to the plate Sunday in Tampa Bay to pinch hit. He swung and hit the ball out of the park -- or so he thought. Instead, the ball struck one of Tropicana Field's roof speakers before falling into the glove of shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria.

On Monday, the Rays used the incident as an opportunity to poke fun at the Yankees, tweeting:

Frazier said he believes the speaker robbed him of a home run. He said that there shouldn’t be a speaker in fair territory.

The game went into extra innings, and Tampa Bay won 7-6 on Jake Bauers' 12th-inning homer to complete a sweep of the first-place Yankees.
