It seems like the Knicks plan Thursday night in the NBA Draft is to take Duke guard/forward RJ Barrett with the third pick. That's if nobody else snags him before that, which is a possibility.

Listen to your team news NOW.

According to Peter Vecsey, the Pelicans are making an effort to leapfrog the Knicks and move into the second spot so they can take Barrett and pair him with his teammate Zion Williamson. The Pelicans would offer the Grizzlies their No. 4 pick as part of the deal.

If that trade did go down, it would leave the Knicks most likely taking Ja Morant, which is not a bad consolation prize whatsoever. The Knicks would rather have Barrett, but Morant has the chance to be a franchise point guard and would be a solid pick. If the Knicks ended up trading down, they would likely go for Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland or Texas Tech guard Jarrett Culver.

There's always rumors floating around on draft day, and there will probably be more out there before Thursday night, when the Pelicans take Zion with the first pick. If there are no trades made and the Grizzlies take Morant second, the Knicks should be perfectly satisfied with Barrett at three, who has the chance to be a franchise player.
