'Outside The Cage' Podcast: Ike And Pete Agree With Corner’s Decision To Not Throw In The Towel

May 17, 2018 - 8:26 am

On this week’s edition of the ‘Outside the Cage’ podcast, hosts Ike Feldman and Pete Hoffman try to jam every MMA headline from the last week into one episode! The guys start with UFC 224’s main take away, which was the widely criticized decision by Raquel Pennington’s corner to send the title challenger out for the 5th Round after she said “I’m done, I’m done”. The second biggest story from the UFC’s return to Brazil was jiu jitsu prospect Mackenzie Dern’s failed weight cut. The Brazilian missed her mark by a whopping 7 pounds.

The fellas also give you their first impression of ex-NFL lineman (Panthers, Cowboys) Greg Hardy’s professional MMA debut, which will be streamed on ‘Dana White’s Contender Series’ Tuesday June 12th. The troubled athlete has received much vitriol for his domestic violence case and his disruptive behavior on the field. Ironically, on the same night as Hardy’s debut, a truly great story will be on display when born amputee Nick Newell (14-1) will fight for a chance to get a UFC contract.

Finally, Pete and Ike talk about Dana White’s decision to cut top Mexican prospect Yair Rodriguez, because of what seems to be a disagreement on the uber talented fighter’s next match. Outside promotions have already expressed interest in the very marketable Rodriguez.
