Steven Adams and Enes Kanter

Steven Adams Talks Smack To Old Friend Enes Kanter During Knicks-Thunder Game

Wednesday night’s game in Oklahoma City was not easy viewing for Knicks fans. David Fizdale’s team looked slow from the opening tip and ultimately lost by 25 points on the road.

The Knicks struggles continued despite Fizdale’s tinkering with the starting lineup, but there was still some fun to be had.

Steven Adams and Enes Kanter have been good friends since Kanter’s time with the Thunder, and this game gave them a chance to renew their acquaintance on the court. It also gave Adams a chance to talk trash, which he does so well.

Adams sense of humor is just as strong as he is. He was clearly joking, but he also wasn’t wrong. Part of the reason the Knicks struggled so much is because Kanter and their other forwards struggled to defend, especially on the pick and roll. This might've been one effect of Fizdale's new lineup that replaced skilled defenders Frank Ntilikina and Damyean Dotson with Emmanuel Mudiay and Kevin Knox.

Kanter’s defense has been an issue throughout his NBA career and Adams was always going to take advantage of that. The New Zealand native even dunked on Kanter at one point. Of course, he made sure to troll his old friend after throwing one down in his face.

The two former teammates referred to themselves as “The Stache Brothers” when they played together, and were sporting similar facial hair, in Oklahoma City. They got together after the game to show their love for each other despite what was an ugly result for Kanter’s team.

The Knicks are 4-11 to start a season that will likely be a painful one, but at least there was some comic relief to the destruction they faced at the hands of the Thunder.
