Odell Beckham Jr. was not present for the Giants' fourth of 10 voluntary organized team activities Tuesday.

While the circumstances for his absense were not immediately known, Giants coach Pat Shurmur told reporters he was aware Beckham would not be in attendance.

The talented wide receiver was present for the start of OTAs last Monday, and continued to be a limited participant throughout the week.

Shurmur told the media last week that Beckham's surgically repaired ankle "looks good," although the wide receiver wasn't yet healthy enough to fully participate in the first few days of organized team activities. On Tuesday, Shurmur said he believes the wide receiver is "pretty close" to being cleared physically.

Beckham's presence at OTAs last week was a significant storyline for a player who didn't participate in the voluntary workouts last offseason and is seeking a megacontract this year.

The three-time Pro Bowler appeared to be getting close to being physically cleared to practice, as Shurmur spoke last week about Beckham's desire to partake in more drills during the team's organized team activities.

"He's out here moving around," Shurmur told reporters early last week. "He's chomping at the bit, wanted to get out and do more than we're allowing him to at this point. We're just trying to make sure everything is healed to the fullest before we put him out there.

Beckham also has participated in voluntary offseason workouts this offseason, and was in attendance for last month's minicamp.

The 25-year-old is reportedly seeking a contract that would make him the NFL's highest-paid wide receiver. Beckham's talent is not in question. He has been an incredibly productive player in his young career. His discipline, however, has been a concern, so much so that the Giants appeared to briefly entertain the idea of trading him this offseason.

Beckham is set to play under his $8.46 million fifth-year option this season.

Also absent from the practice field Tuesday was cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

Defensive tackle Damon Harrison, who had not been present for any of the team's previous practices attended by the media this offseason, was on the practice field Tuesday.

Offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, who made headlines earlier in the offseason by skipping the start of the team's offseason workout program, was also on the field for the fourth day of OTAs.

Safety Landon Collins, who underwent a second surgery on his broken forearm earlier this offseason, was on the practice field in non-contact drills. He is expected to be cleared by the start of mandatory minicamp next month.
