Kyrie Irving has already missed 26 games for the Nets this season, and now he’s about to miss his 27th.

Listen to your team news NOW.

The team announced that Irving won’t play against the Sixers on Monday night, as he is dealing with tightness in his right hamstring. Brooklyn will have to face a talented Philadelphia team without its best player.

Irving only returned to the lineup eight days ago after recovering from shoulder impingement. The Nets beat the Hawks in his first game back, but have since lost three in a row. On Saturday, the Eastern Conference-leading Bucks blew Brooklyn out 117-97.

It has been a stop-and-start season for Irving in his first year playing in New York. He has mostly been tremendous when he has been healthy, but he has missed well over half of his team’s games, with that number possibly about to rise.

If the regular season ended today, the Nets would have the No. 8 seed in the East. They’re 18-23 with the Pistons and Bulls each a couple games behind them in the race for that last playoff spot.

At a practice on Friday after the most recent loss to Philadelphia, Irving spoke strongly about the Nets' situation. According to Irving, Brooklyn needs "one more piece or two more pieces" to compliment a list of players that included himself, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, Garrett Temple, Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert. Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen were noticeably left off that list.

Irving’s absence means that more of the load will be placed on the back of Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie is having another great season, but his numbers had dipped a little bit since Irving’s return to the lineup. The Nets are lucky to have a quality point guard who can step in when Irving goes down.

It's unclear when Irving will be healthy enough to return to the lineup. The team has been conservative with his health so far this season, and that will likely continue.
