The lottery balls didn't bounce the Knicks' way Tuesday night.

The Knicks, who went into the NBA draft lottery with the ninth-best odds, ended up with the ninth pick. They had a 1.7 percent chance of landing the top selection and 6.1 percent chance of securing a top-three pick, but luck wasn't on their side.

The top three spots were determined by the lottery, and then spots 4 to 14 fell in line of reverse order of record.

The Phoenix Suns won the the No. 1 pick. Sacramento will pick No. 2 and Atlanta got the No. 3 pick — both of them moving up to get there. The top three spots were determined by the lottery, and then spots 4-14 fell in line of reverse order of record.

The Knicks went 29-53 last season. Last week, they announced the hiring of head coach David Fizdale

The last time the Knicks had the ninth overall pick, they selected Georgetown center/power forward Mike Sweetney in 2003. He lasted just two seasons and was out of the NBA after four years.
