The Mets placed Jay Bruce on the 10-day disabled Tuesday while the right fielder deals with a sore right hip.

The move is retroactive to Monday, making Bruce eligible to be return in time for the Mets' June 29 game at Miami.

Bruce also has been battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He has missed four of the past five games.

Bruce, 31, is batting .212 with three home runs and 17 RBIs this season. He hasn't homered since May 7.

To fill Bruce's place on the roster, the Mets called up right-handed reliever Tim Peterson from Triple-A Las Vegas, multiple reports said.

Peterson has appeared in three games for the Mets this season, going 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 4 1/3 innings. He had just been sent down June 14.

Bruce joins a Mets DL that also includes Noah Syndergaard, Yoenis Cespedes and AJ Ramos.
