Amidst a seemingly endless string of negative storylines concerning the New York Mets, the Amazins declared something pretty cool Wednesday on their website.

They’ve tagged Marysol Castro to be the first female public address announcer in team history, and in keeping with a historic theme, they also hired Colin Cosell – grandson of legendary broadcaster Howard Cosell – to split the PA duties with Castro for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Castro will debut at Citi Field on Thursday when the Mets welcome the Chicago Cubs to town, and Cosell will get behind the mic Saturday night.

“I appreciate the Mets for doing something they’ve never done in franchise history,” said Castro. “I look forward to working with the team, including my partner Colin Cosell, who has sports royalty running through his veins.”

Although new to the Mets, both Castro and Cosell bring a lot of experience to the role they’ll share.

Castro has worked for stations such as WPIX-TV, News 12 The Bronx, ABC's "Good Morning America" and CBS’ "The Early Show" in a variety of roles.

Cosell has three Emmy Awards to his name as a sports broadcaster with MSG Varsity and is currently freelancing for Verizon FiOS1 Sports.

Fans will get to hear Castro and Cosell soon and often as the Mets embark Thursday on a nine-game homestand that includes games with the Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees.
