Marcus Morris has never been one to mince words, and that likely isn’t changing anytime soon.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Morris has had an eventful preseason in his first year with the Knicks. He was ejected on Monday for bopping the Wizards’ Justin Anderson in the head with the ball after taking issue with how he was being defended, and now he’s firing back after Kevin Durant said the Knicks weren’t cool anymore.

The 30-year-old forward took to Twitter to send a shot back in Durant’s direction.

This was all kicked off when Durant appeared on “Ebro in the Morning” on Hot97 on Tuesday and said the Knicks aren’t the “cool thing right now.” The context here, of course, is that Durant joined the Nets this summer with Kyrie Irving, despite both players long being linked with a move to Manhattan. Ultimately, the Knicks didn’t end up with any of the elite free agents they were after.

But New York did sign Morris and some other quality, experienced NBA players. Julius Randle, Morris and company will try to help to bring some more wins to Madison Square Garden after last year’s team finished with the worst record in the league.

Morris spent the last two years with the Celtics before he joined the Knicks. He prides himself on being a bully on the court and said before this season that the Knicks weren’t “taking no s***” this year. Morris is a talented scorer, but he's also the type of guy who won't be afraid to stick up for his teammates in a game. He'll bring a type of leadership to the locker room that the franchise hasn't really had in recent years.

Durant likely will miss the entire 2019/20 season, so it will be a while before him and Morris have the chance to be on the floor together again.
