John Sterling is feeling better, but for the second straight night, he will not be part of WFAN’s broadcast of the Yankees-Orioles game from Baltimore.

Sterling, who also missed Wednesday's broadcast, was tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday as part of a battery of tests. WFAN can confirm that he tested negative, and hopes to be back in the booth for the Yankees’ re-scheduled home opener on Friday against the Red Sox.

Without Sterling, Thursday’s Yankees broadcasts will have the same alignment as Wednesday’s: Rickie Ricardo, the play-by-play voice of the Yankees’ Spanish-language radio network, will again slide over to WFAN to join Suzyn Waldman and call the game in English, while Felix DeJesus will join Francisco Rivera to cover Ricardo on WADO and its sister stations.

“I was sitting there reading the game notes and they said, ‘Switch sides, John’s sick,” Ricardo told NJ.com’s Randy Miller Wednesday night from Yankee Stadium, where WFAN is broadcasting away games. “No one knew until about 5:30."

It will be Ricardo’s second Yankees game on WFAN and only the sixth not to feature Sterling, who called more than 5,000 consecutive games in the Yankees’ radio booth from 1989 until last season, when he took a four-day respite.
