Joe Douglas has started to form the team that will be working under him within the Jets' front office.

Due to the timing of the firing of Mike Maccagnan, Douglas will be getting started on his season significantly later than the rest of the general managers in the NFL. But he now has started to form a staff to help him undertake the project that is the New York Jets.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Colts executive Rex Hogan has been brought in to be the assistant general manager under Douglas. Hogan was apparently wanted by quite a few teams around the league. He had previously worked for the Jets as their director of colleg scouting.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Douglas has also hired Ravens assistant director of pro personnel Chad Alexander to be New York’s new director of player personnel, and former Browns GM Phil Savage in a role that is still unclear.

Savage's name stands out. He struggled in his time in Cleveland, but he was working for a team with very limited resources at the time.

Most of the attention will be on Douglas, but every general manager needs a network of trusted employees to work with. These hires add a great deal of NFL experience to the Jets’ front office.

Some stability in management would be a breath of fresh air for the Jets, who have too often been plagued by high turnover in key executive roles.
