The NFL has suspended Jets cornerback Rashard Robinson for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, WFAN's Brian Costello reported.

Robinson, 23, was arrested in December in Morris County, New Jersey, on charges that he possessed a marijuana-laced candy.

The Jets acquired Robinson in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers last season. New York gave up a fifth-round pick in the deal.

It's not Robinson's first brush with the law. After being dismissed from the team at LSU, he arrested on an unathorized-entry charge.

He started seven of the eight games he played in for the 49ers last season, registering 27 tackles and one interceptions. He played in six games for the Jets (one start), but had just two tackles.
