The Jets signed the former Cleveland Brown to a three-year, $12 million contract in March. In 13 games, he rushed for 685 yards on 143 carries (4.8 average) and six touchdowns. His season was highlighted by a team-record 219 yards rushing against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 7.

Crowell is the second key running back the Jets have lost to a season-ending injury this year. In October, Bilal Powell was placed on IR with a bulging disk in his neck.

The Jets' running game will rely on Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon on Saturday against the Texans. New York has promoted running back De'Angelo Henderson from the practice squad to serve as the third running back.
