It didn’t take long for Janoris Jenkins to find another opportunity in the NFL.

Listen to your team news NOW.

The Giants waived Jenkins on Friday after he called a fan a “retard” on Twitter while his teammates were practicing. Jenkins issued an apology, but he admitted during the apology that he didn’t think he had done anything wrong. Jenkins tweeted afterwards that his release was the “best news ever.”

According to multiple reports, Jenkins has now been claimed off of waivers by the Saints.

With this move, Jenkins goes from one of the worst teams in the NFL to one of the best. The Saints are 10-3 and are fighting for a top seed in the NFC.

In 13 games this season, Jenkins intercepted four passes and registered 54 tackles. He was selected to his only Pro Bowl in 2016.

Jenkins is healthy, so he should be able to suit up relatively quickly for his new team. His talent is undeniable, but there are obviously questions about his judgement off the field. This wasn’t the first time Jenkins has used derogatory language on social media. Last season, he also referred to a fan as a “retard” in a post on Instagram.

"Where I’m from, we use all kind of words for slang," he told reporters after facing criticism for using the derogatory term on this occasion. "If it offends anybody, I’m sorry. It’s a culture that I grew up in where I’m from. You know what I’m saying, we use all kinds of words for all kinds of slang. If you don’t know, it’s a hood thing or whatever.”

Jenkins then said he was only apologizing because of the backlash, saying he “really didn’t see nothing so bad with it."

The Saints could have Jenkins available when they play the Titans on Sunday in Tennessee.
