Drama in Pittsburgh has more than a handful of NFL teams paying attention to the Steel City.

On Tuesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that Brown had requested a trade because of issues with head coach Mike Tomlin and veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Tomlin denied those reports on Wednesday, but it’s too late. The recruitment efforts around the league have already begun, including one local effort.

New York Jets safety Jamal Adams always speaks his mind, and he did so again when he took to Twitter to let Brown know how much he would be loved if he came to New York.

Pittsburgh missed out on the playoffs on the final day of the season despite a 16-13 win over the Bengals, and despite the best efforts of Brown during the campaign. The 30-year-old wide receiver brought in 15 touchdowns in 2018 with 1297 yards on 104 receptions.

The structure of Brown’s contract makes it tough for the Steelers to trade him. If Brown is traded before March 17th the team will have to eat $21.1M of cap space in 2019.

Adams elaborated on his wish to have Brown join the Jets when he joined “Carlin, Maggie and Bart” on WFAN on Wednesday afternoon.

“That dude is a star,” said Adams. “Obviously certain people have their opinion about him. One thing I do know, from watching and witnessing it, AB’s gonna come to play. When he steps on that football field he’s all business and everything’s about football with him.”

Adams also believed that Brown would gel with Sam Darnold, the QB the Jets are now planning to build their team around for the future.

“Him and Sam I think would have a great connection. And that would give Sam another big-time weapon.”
