The NHL preseason is just a few weeks away and rosters are starting to take shape. The Islanders held on to left winger Anthony Beauvillier as the team announced Wednesday that they have signed him to a two-year extension.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Beauvillier, 22, finished with 21 goals and 15 assists in 2017-2018, but regressed last season. He finished with just 18 goals and 10 assists in 80 games.

The age 22 and 23 seasons for Beauvillier will be important for his future with the team. He will need to take the next step in 2019-2020 if he is going to be here for a while. He was the Islanders last restricted free agent.

His contract is reportedly worth $2.1 million a year, according to The Athletic.
