Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton will be placed on the injured list with a PCL strain, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Wednesday's win over Toronto.

Mike Tauchman will replace Stanton on the 25-man roster.

Stanton left Tuesday night's game in the fourth inning. He had gotten tangled up with Blue Jays pitcher Clayton Richard in the first inning while making a head-first slide into third base.

Stanton had no swelling in the knee Wednesday morning, but it was still sore and stiff, Boone said.

The 29-year-old slugger will not accompany the team to London for its two-game series against the Boston Red Sox, and will be re-evaluated in 10 days.

The outfielder/designated hitter has played in just five games since missing 2 1/2 months with biceps, shoulder and calf injuries. In nine games total this season, he's hitting .267 with one homer and seven RBIs.

Tauchman is hitting .212/.305/.394 with four home runs and 14 RBIs in 104 at-bats this year.
