Dez Bryant

Dez Bryant Set To Sign With New Orleans Saints

November 07, 2018 - 5:59 pm

The New Orleans Saints once again have one of the most high-powered offenses in the NFL. Sean Payton’s team ranks second in the league in scoring, and now they’re set to boost their offensive firepower even more.

According to multiple reports, free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant will sign a one-year deal with the Saints on Thursday.

Bryant has been without a team since he was released by the Cowboys in April. He’s still only 30-years-old and managed six touchdowns on 69 receptions last season. Bryant should benefit from teaming up with future hall-of-famer Drew Brees.

The Saints are currently the top seed in the NFC. They lost their opening game of the season to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but have since reeled-off seven wins in a row. Their receiving corps took a hit when Ted Ginn Jr. was placed on injured reserve in October. Bryant may be rusty and a step slower than he once was, but he still has his size and his soft hands. He should slot in alongside Michael Thomas and Tre'Quan Smith as the Saints' main options at wideout.

There was quite a bit of drama in the aftermath of Bryant's departure from Dallas, but he has since tweeted that he holds no ill will against the Cowboys. Bryant will have a chance to play against his old team in just a few weeks. The Saints and Cowboys will play in Dallas on November 29.
