Darrelle Revis announced his retirement from the NFL Wednesday.

Revis enjoyed an 11-year career in professional football, having played for the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs.

The cornerback established himself as an elite defender during his time in New York, as few quarterbacks dared to throw toward “Revis Island."

Here are some of the best performances from Revis’ time as a New York Jet.

Strip Sack In Buffalo (Nov. 2, 2008)

In a 26-17 Jets victory over the Buffalo Bills in 2008, Revis made one of his two career sacks. Revis sacked Bills quarterback Trent Edwards at the Buffalo 6-yard line and recovered the fumble himself. The turnover set up a chip-shot field goal by Jay Feely.

First Playoff Game At Cincinnati (Jan. 9, 2010)

In 2009, Revis made his first playoff appearance in his third season in the NFL. He did not disappoint, as he held Bengals star Chad Ochocinco to just two catches for 28 yards and no touchdowns. In the second quarter, Revis intercepted a pass from Carson Palmer intended for Ochocinco and returned it 20 yards. The interception led to a touchdown on the next possession, as the Jets took a 14-7 lead and never looked back.

AFC Divisional Playoff At San Diego (Jan. 17, 2009)

The Jets faced the Chargers the following week in the AFC divisional playoffs. Revis managed to intercept a pass for the second straight week, picking off Philip Rivers in the third quarter on a pass that bounced off Vincent Jackson's leg before Revis wrangled it while lying on his back. The interception kept the score at 7-3 in favor of the Chargers, though the Jets were able to mount a comeback and win the game 17-14.

2011 Season Opener Vs. Dallas (Sept. 11, 2011)

On the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Jets hosted the Dallas Cowboys for the 2011 season opener on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium. The Jets and Revis turned in a memorable performance. Late in the fourth quarter with the game tied 24-24, Revis intercepted a pass from Tony Romo intended for Dez Bryant and returned it 20 yards. The interception set up Nick Folk's game-winning field goal, completing the Jets' comeback from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit.

The 100-Yard Interception Return (Oct. 17, 2011)

Revis had arguably his greatest performance in Week 5 of the 2011 season. The Jets beat the Dolphins 24-6 largely thanks to Revis’ impact on defense. The cornerback intercepted Miami quarterback Matt Moore twice. Notably, Revis picked off a pass at the goal line and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
