Sam Darnold appears to have exorcised his ghosts.

Listen to your team news NOW.

The second-year quarterback was brilliant Sunday as the Jets stomped the Raiders 34-3 at MetLife Stadium. Darnold completed 20 of 29 psases for 315 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for a 4-yard touchdown.

The Jets (4-7) have now won three straight, scoring 34 points in each of the victories.

Last month, Darnold looked completely lost in back-to-back games against the Patriots and Jaguars, tossing seven interceptions in the two games. A live mic caught Darnold on the sideline commenting in the loss to New England that he was "seeing ghosts."

"The biggest thing for me -- and I know that we're beating this same drum over and over again, but it's that important -- is that Sam Darnold looks like a confident player again," WFAN's Gregg Giannotti said on Monday's "Boomer and Gio" show. "'Cause he was slipping into this, like, I didn't know if he was going to be able to come back from it he looked so bad -- throwing balls off his back foot, playing scared, the ghost thing -- and then that can ruin a guy. Like, we've seen that before in the NFL -- a talented guy who gets hit a bunch.

"Forget about the stats and all that, just the eye test and watching him, from the Patriots game, the Jaguars game to yesterday. He's a different football player. He's a different quarterback. His throws are different, his footwork is different, his body language is different. And that's the most important thing that's going on right now in this season with the Jets."

Added Boomer Esiason: "It's not only the most important thing, it's the most impressive thing. Because you talk about kids who go through this, and there's going to be downturns. And the question is, do they have the personality traits to come out of it? Forget about whether or not they have the arm strength, whether they have the ability to extend plays, and do they have the accuracy and do they have the poise and all that other stuff? Do they have the ability to overcome where Sam was?

"I mean, they go into opposing teams' stadiums, they're playing 'Ghostbusters.' So he's got to deal with all of that crap on top of it, and he has just played himself out of it. And he's played like the kid that should've been drafted third overall. He looks solid, he looks smart, he looks like he's making quick decisions, he is accurate with the football, and he's the unquestioned leader."

Next up for the Jets are two very winnable games -- at the 0-11 Bengals and home against the 2-9 Dolphins.
