Joining Mike's On Thursday was sports columnist Bill Simmons, who gave his prediction on the 2018 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.

"I think it's going to go [ Warriors in > five," Simmons told Mike Francesa prior to Thursday's Game 1 at Oracle Arena.

Golden State enters the Finals as heavy favorites over Cleveland. In fact, the Warriors are the largest NBA Finals favorites in at least 16 seasons, according to, an odds database.

Simmons agreed with Vegas, telling WFAN that Cleveland's only shot at winning is if they can somehow take the series to seven games.

"The only way they can win is in seven," Simmons said about the Cavaliers' chances at beating the Warriors. "They can't beat this team four out of six, four out of five, it's unrealistic."

LeBron James is coming off an unbelievable series against the Boston Celtics. In seven games, the 33-year-old superstar averaged 33.6 points, 9.0 assists, and 8.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from the three point line.

While he certainly believes Golden State will take home their third championship in the last four years, Simmons, a big Boston sports fan, knows better than to completely count James out.

"He just has to get it to a Game 7, because if he gets to Game 7, and he's the best guy on the court and can shorten the game, they could win the series," Simmons said Thursday. "But do I think that's going to happen? No."
