WFAN host Joe Benigno

Back-to-back callers had Joe Benigno screaming at the top of his lungs on Wednesday's "Benigno & Roberts" show.

Al in Paramus was the first to get the WFAN host worked up when he suggested Mike McCarthy, whom Benigno has been lobbying for his Jets to hire, isn't a good head coach. Al, who is a Patriots fan, argued that the Super Bowl-winning coach benefited from having Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback and that he still had too many playoff failures.

"Al, it makes me nuts," Benigno said. "Here's a guy who's a top coach in the league, but he stinks, but he's not any good 'cause he had Aaron Rodgers. He's not any good.

"I'm tired of hearing that crap because all I've had is garbage head coaches, Al, which you wouldn't know about."

When Al added that he believes Andy Reid -- who regularly reaches the playoffs but has never won a Super Bowl as a head coach -- is a good coach while McCarthy is not, Benigno really lost it.

"Do me a favor: Go somewhere else," Benigno said. "And it's disgraceful that I've got to deal with Al who lives in what I call my town, Paramus. He lives in Paramus? What a disgrace!"

Just as Benigno was trying to calm down, Wayne in Manhattan called to suggest the Mets trade Jeff McNeil, Noah Syndergaard and Michael Conforto for a quality first baseman such as Freddie Freeman or Paul Goldschmidt.

"You're nuts!" Benigno said.

"Where are these people coming from? Are you hanging out with Al in Paramus?" Benigno added, to which Wayne replied that Al was actually a good friend of his.
