Yankees' Aaron Hicks Exits ALDS Game 1 With Hamstring Tightness

October 05, 2018 - 8:59 pm

Yankees' centerfielder Aaron Hicks exited ALDS Game 1 in the top of the fourth after singling off Chris Sale.

Hicks appeared to have some lower-body discomfort. The Yankees later announced that the injury is hamstring tightness and Hicks is undergoing evaluations.

He will be examined further Saturday and have an MRI.

"He felt like it might have been cramping, so we'll just have to see," Aaron Boone said. "Hopefully we'll have a clearer picture tomorrow when he gets up and we get some pictures, too."

Brett Gardner replaced Hicks as a pinch runner.

The Red Sox ended up edging the Yankees, 5-4 to win Game 1.
