Giants' Stars React To Blue Light Over NYC

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- A transformer explosion at a Con Ed facility in Queens caused New York City's skyline to be illuminated in a blue glow on Thursday night.

NYC athletes began to chime in on social media as the flashing light show unfolded.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley was one of several athletes caught by surprise.

He tweeted: "What just happened to the sky in New York.... or am I tripping!??"

Linebacker Tae Davis replied to Barkley's tweet: “Thought i was tripping too..”

The NYPD's official Twitter account tweeted:

"ADVISORY: The lights you have seen throughout the city appear to have been from a transformer explosion at a Con Ed facility in Queens. The fire is under control, will update as more info becomes available."

The phenomenon occurred at the Astoria East Substation on 20th Avenue and 32nd Street shortly after 9 p.m. Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan residents were able to witness the eerie glow.
