The odds are not in Pat Shurmur’s favor.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Bookmaker.eu lists Shurmur as the second most-likely head coach to be fired next season. Shurmur lands on the hot seat at 7-to-1 odds. He trails Washington’s Jay Gruden, whose 3-to-1 odds makes him the odds-on favorite among head coaches to be fired first.

Shurmur at the helm for the Giants was met with medicore results and became very underwhelming. The Giants finished 5-11 and fourth in the NFC East, missing the postseason for the second straight season. Star wideout Odell Beckham was traded to the Browns for Jabrill Peppers, Kevin Zeitler and a couple of draft picks, leading many to lower their expectations for Big Blue in the upcoming months.

The Giants, however, have a significantly favorable schedule in 2019.

New York’s strength of schedule is tied for 27th in the league, with their opponents finishing with a .473 total winning percentage last year. They are still a +400 underdog to make the playoffs with the Eagles being chosen to to claim the division, according to Oddsshark

The Giants begin preseason action against the New York Jets on Aug. 8. Shurmur's regular season campaign starts on Sept. 8, when the Giants visit the Dallas Cowboys. The Lions' Matt Patricia, Texans' Bill O'Brien and Falcons' Dan Quinn round out the oddsmaker's top five coaches to be finding a new gig sometime in 2019.
