Miguel Andujar has struggled mightily since his return from the injured list due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder, going just 3-for-34 at the plate. Now, the Yankees third baseman is headed back to the IL.

The Yankees called up southpaw Nestor Cortes to replace Andujar. Aaron Boone said he feels the injury has factored into Andujar's struggles since coming back. He also said surgery is not on the table right now, but it's not out of the cards either. In 47 at bats this season, Andujar is hitting just .128 with no homers and one RBI.

Gio Urshela has been holding down the fort while Andujar has been hurt and struggled, hitting .341 with two homers and 15 RBI. Urshela has played stellar defense as well, something that has lacked in Andujar's game since he emerged last season.

Cortes returns to the bullpen for the Yankees from triple-A, where he started five games and appeared in six, tossing 33 2/3 innings with a 4.54 ERA. He's pitched two innings with the Yanks this season, giving up three runs.
