With the setback, the Mets signed 2016 All-Star pitcher Brad Brach.

Brach went 4-3 with a 6.13 ERA in 42 appearances for the Chicago Cubs this season. The New Jersey native cleared waivers and was granted his relased from Chicago on Aug. 5. The Mets also optioned Donnie Hart to Syracuse.
