The Jets have added another big body to protect franchise quarterback Sam Darnold.

New York has signed veteran offensive lineman Tom Compton, the team announced on Twitter Monday afternoon.

NFL Mock Draft 2.0

Compton, who turns 30 in May, started 14 games at left guard for the Minnesota Vikings last season.

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound lineman was originally drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth-round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Washington before playing one year in Atlanta, Chicago and Minnesota from 2016-2018.

Compton has played in 85 games (29 starts) during his seven-year NFL career, making appearances at right guard and right tackle in addition to his time at left guard.
