For the first time this season, WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts spent a Monday discussing a Jets win.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Gang Green stunned the Dallas Cowboys 24-22 on Sunday, as Sam Darnold returned from his bout with mono to pass for 338 yards and two touchdowns. The Jets were 0-4 entering the game, three of those losses coming with Darnold out.

"In ways, it felt like an NBA team," Roberts said. "They're without their superstar and they look like a 25-win team, and then the superstar comes back and they look like a 48-win team. I'm not saying a championship team, but a 48-win team. One guy in the NBA can make that kind of difference. Sometimes and most of the time, that's not the case in the NFL."

"The whole team was different with Darnold out there, and he had a terrific game," Benigno said. "He made one bad throw — that pick by the goal line. ... But I thought this was an all-around effort. Everybody got involved offensively in this game."

The biggest highlight of the game came late in the second quarter when Darnold connected with Robby Anderson on a 92-yard touchdown pass.

"Has there been a more exciting moment as a Jet fan than the Robbie Anderson 92-yard touchdown over the last how many years?" Roberts asked. "I'm not even kidding."

There was some debate among Joe and Evan about just how good of a game the Jets' defense had. It held the Cowboys to just three field goals through the first 3½ quarters before giving up a pair of late touchdowns.

"To me, the defense played a terrific game yesterday," Benigno said. "They really, really did. They hit (Cowboys quarterback Dak) Prescott all day long. They only sacked him once — Jordan Jenkins on that last drive. But they hit Prescott. And I know Zeke (Elliott) got his hundred-something yards. But the second half, it seemed like the defense was on the field the whole game. I thought they did a solid job.

"And I thought the secondary yesterday was great," Joe added. "I mean, (Jamal) Adams and (Marcus) Maye were all over the field. Brian Poole, Darryl Roberts, even (Trumaine) Johnson, they didn't miss a tackle. And what the Jets are getting ... they're getting contributions from guys I never heard of — Kyle Phillips, Tarell Basham, Neville Hewitt."

Roberts, however, wasn't as thrilled with the Jets' defense as his co-host was.

"Let's be fair about the defense," he said. "The defense was not great in the second half of this game. They could not stop them on third down at all. ... I'm not giving them an A, but I would certainly give them B, B-plus. Here's what I'll give them credit for: bend but don't break."
