Giants Sign Veteran Cornerback Leonard Johnson

August 03, 2018 - 5:49 pm

Secondary was already a bit of a concern for the Giants going into training camp. Just a few days in, they lost Sam Beal for the season. Donte Deayon, Curtis Riley, and Teddy Williams have all missed time for varying reasons. Friday, the team signed veteran cornerback Leonard Johnson.

To make room for him, the Giants waived cornerback Kenneth Durden. The Giants had waived Durden before Beal went on IR and brought him back. Now, he's out of a job again.

Johnson, 28, played with the Bills last season, starting seven games, and finished with 52 combined tackles and one forced fumbled. He played under Dave Gettleman in Carolina in 2016, appearing in 10 games. Johnson has played for four teams in six NFL seasons.
