Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder Thursday. The Yankees announced that the surgery went 'as expected.'

Sanchez underwent the left shoulder debridement on Thursday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. The surgery was performed by Yankees team doctor Dr. Christopher Ahmad.

The surgery was done on Sanchez's non-throwing shoulder. He is expected to be out for three months and be ready for Opening Day.

Sanchez struggled this past season, hitting just .186 with 18 home runs. He was on the DL twice this season.
