After losing the first two games of the season, the Giants are desperate for a win as they prepare for the team's Week 3 matchup in Houston.

New York's pass rush has already taken a big hit with Olivier Vernon being ruled out Thursday for the third consecutive game. But now the team's secondary will also be playing short-handed against Deshaun Watson and the talented Texans offense.

Cornerback Eli Apple has officially been ruled for the Giants' crucial Week 3 game with a groin injury he suffered against the Cowboys.

Entering the third week of the season, Apple has been playing outstanding football thus far this season. The third-year corner has earned the ninth-best overall grade among all cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus.

Veteran corner B.W. Webb is likely to move outside to replace Apple, with Donte Deayon playing in the slot.

"We've got guys that we trust and we're going to put them in there and we trust that they're going to go out there and play well," head coach Pat Shurmur said.

The Giants will take on the Texans Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston.
