Yankees left-handed pitcher CC Sabathia is expected to start the season on the injured list, according to manager Aaron Boone. The Yankees expect him to be starting big league games sometime in April.

Sabathia underwent a pair of surgeries in the offseason; a knee scope and a procedure to clear blockage in one of the arteries leading to his heart. Once Sabathia is activated, he will be forced to sit out five games for intentionally throwing at Jesus Sucre last season.

With Sabathia out to open the season and Luis Severino out with shoulder inflammation, the Yankees are likely to turn to Domingo German and Jonathan Loasiga to make the Opening Day starting rotation.

Sabathia announced before the season that this will be his final year playing. ESPN announced Tuesday that Sabathia will join the network as an analyst for various shows, including Baseball Tonight and SportsCenter.

WFAN is the flagship station of the Yankees. Tune in to 660 AM or 101.9 FM this season to hear all the action.
