Brandon Nimmo Placed On The 10-Day DL

The Mets have placed outfielder Brandon Nimmo on the 10-day DL, retroactive to Aug. 17, due to the bruised left index finger he suffered last Thursday when he tried to check his swing and was hit by a pitch.

Dominic Smith, who was the 26th man on the roster on Sunday, will remain with the team and take his spot. 

Mets GM John Ricco said he expects Nimmo to return when eligible on Aug. 27. 

Prior to the at-bat where he was injured, Nimmo had reached base in 10 conseuctive plate appearances. Nimmo is hitting .263 with 15 homers in 109 games this season.
