Golf’s second major of the year got underway at Long Island’s famous Shinnecock Hills on Thursday, and it was the course that proved the story.

Boomer & Gio got Friday’s radio program started breaking down all of the action from the U.S. Open, thus far. Tiger Woods finished his first round with an 8-over 78, but the Booms think Tiger could still be in the mix come Sunday. Gio, on the other hand, believes that Woods is all but finished.

Then Thursday night in the Bronx, the Yankees hosted the Rays and saw their rookie second baseman shine once again. Gleyber Torres hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fifth inning -- his 13th homer  since being called-up April 22 – and the Yanks hung on to win 4-3, their 44th win of the season.

Boomer also provided an obligatory update on the Mets -- they lost to the Diamondbacks.

You know the drill, folks, it’s a Friday, so start actin’ like it.
