The NFC East was arguably the weakest division in the league this season, but that is quickly changing with the recent hires of two proven head coaches, WFAN's Boomer Esiason says.

Listen to your team news NOW.

The Dallas Cowboys reportedly hired former Green Packers coach Mike McCarthy on Monday. Last week, the Washington Redskins tapped Ron Rivera, formerly of the Carolina Panthers, to be their head coach. Both coaches have brought teams to Super Bowls, with McCarthy winning a world championship.

The lone holdover head coach in the division is Doug Pederson, who led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl win just two years ago.

Meanwhile, the Giants, who interviewed McCarthy, are searching for their next sideline general.

"All I'm telling you is the other three teams in the division have significantly improved their coaching situations," Esiason said on Tuesday's "Boomer and Gio" show. "They, now all three of them, have former Coach of the Years, have former Super Bowl coaches. ... But they went out and got their guys, and I think they are going to be significantly better for who they hired. Now the question is, what are the Giants going to do in response to all this?"

Gregg Giannotti, Esiason's co-host, said he sees both sides of the NFC East's new hires. People can look at the positives -- the Super Bowls -- but "then I could say Mike McCarthy is looked at as a guy who got a little burnt out at the end, and a lot of people (thought it) looked like he underachieved during Aaron Rodgers' prime years," Gio said. "And I could tell you Ron Rivera had a lot of losing seasons in there as well. So it's sort of the way you look at those guys."
