Chapman Likely To Be Activated Wednesday Or Thursday

September 18, 2018 - 7:01 pm

The Yankees got Aaron Judge back in the lineup Tuesday. Either Wednesday or Thursday, they likely will have their closer Aroldis Chapman back as well, according to Aaron Boone.

Chapman has been on the DL since Aug. 22 with left knee tendinitis. He came through a simulated game Monday OK.

“Everything went as expected and I feel good,” Chapman said Tuesday through his translator. “Arm feels great, knee feels great. I feel really good. Happy to see that I’ve gained the strength back in that knee, which I lost a little bit. So everything that has happened with the rehab work that I’ve done has helped a lot.”

Chapman is 31-for-33 in save chances this season and has a 2.11 ERA. The Yankees bullpen will gladly welcome him back as they try and gear up for a postseason run.
