3 New York Teams Land In Top 10 Most Valuable Sports Teams

Yankees Fifth On List, Worth $4 Billion

Forbes released its annual list of the world’s most valuable sports franchises on Wednesday. Six New York teams land in the top 50, while three New York franchises are in the top 10.

The Yankees rank third overall and are the most valuable MLB franchise at $4 billion. Last year, the Yankees were the world’s second most valuable team, worth $4 billion.

No NBA is more valuable than the seventh-place Knicks at $3.6 billion.

Only the New England Patriots ($3.7 billion) are more valuable than the eighth-place Giants. Big Blue is worth $3.3 billion.

1) Dallas Cowboys -- $4.8 billion

2) Manchester United -- $4.123 billion

3) Real Madrid -- $4.088 billion

4) FC Barcelona -- $4.064 billion

5) New York Yankees -- $4 billion

6) New England Patriots -- $3.7 billion

7) New York Knicks -- $3.6 billion

T-8) Los Angeles Lakers -- $3.3 billion

T-8) New York Giants -- $3.3 billion

T-10) Golden State Warriors -- $3.1 billion

T-10) Washington Redskins -- $3.1 billion


The Jets had the biggest fall on the list, moving down eight places to 21st overall at $2.75 billion. The Nets increased in value by 28 percent compared to last year, now worth $2.3 billion at 36th overall. The Mets came in at 43rd overall at $2.1 billion.
